MAD HEADS is one of the most famous Ukrainian rock bands—a true legend. Several generations of listeners have grown up with their music. They have performed on major festival stages and at the revolutionary Maidan protests alike. The band’s music includes elements of ska, reggae, rockabilly, and many other intriguing styles; their Ukrainian flair and unique charisma have created a sound that stands out on both the domestic and global stages.Vadym Krasnookyi—singer, guitarist, songwriter, and the band's all time leader—founded MAD HEADS in 1991. A contemporary of Ukraine’s independence, the band has undergone numerous musical transformations and touring adventures, releasing eight studio albums and over 30 music videos that have enjoyed continuous television airplay since the 1990s. MAD HEADS songs are a staple of Ukrainian radio. The band’s music has been featured in the soundtracks of numerous films and TV series; they have played over 1,000 concerts across Ukraine and toured in 12 countries worldwide.Songs such as "Nadiya Ye" (There Is Hope), "A Ya Na Mori" (And I’m at the Seaside), and many others are sung across Ukraine and far beyond. There was even a music festival in the USA named "Nadiya Ye." Over 2 million Ukrainian mobile subscribers have set the song "A ya na mori" as their ringtone, while the amusing music video for "Smereka" has garnered over 8 million views on YouTube. The band's songs have a total of more than 70 million views on YouTube! In addition to their own hits, the band actively experiments with Ukrainian folk songs, performing them with a modern rock sound.The band regularly releases new material. In May 2026, they released the song "Pro liubov" (About Love) as part of the "Zbyti Rymy" (Fallen Rhymes) project (songs set to poems by poets serving in the military). Enhanced by a powerful and moving music video, the song has already captured the attention of a wide audience.Vadym Krasnookyi is currently conducting a solo world charity tour titled "Nadiya Ye" (There Is Hope) in support of Ukraine's Defense Forces. Over 150 concerts across 17 countries (including Europe, the USA, and Canada) took place since 2024, with 52 shows already performed in 2026.
